if you would have a super power, what would it be?
To transform those moments with loved ones, where when the gap feels too wide between you, you can actually close it.
What would yours be?
Couldn't help adding this Illustration! :-)))))

What is your perfect idea of sanctuary? Is it real or imaginary?
My current sanctuary is this tiny apartment I call home right now. It's so small, but flooded with light and a little sense of whimsy and the greatest neighbor ever. And even now in the middle of New York City I can hear birds chirp just outside my porch. Next to that, I would pick my friend Buckley's yurt in Wyoming -- staring up at the Grand, making hot chocolate or something. Top pics. As for in my mind's eye, my other sanctuary is this large canyon in the Wind River mountains where in addition to the large formation of granite near and big sky near Raid Peak, there is also this perfect creek where you can soak your feet -- hot and tired from walking all day. This tiny creek running through this explosive, expansive canyon. Perfectly quiet. Perfectly perfect.

I might be one of those rare people who actually loves airports.
I might be one of those rare people who actually loves airports. As in loves. There's something about being among my fellow travelers and enjoying what crazy neurotic traveling get-up they might have planned -- the buckwheat hulled neck pillow, the cheesy spy novel tumbling out of their bag, the over-priced eyemask, not to mention the opportunity to guess their destination. i also just enjoy the flying itself, getting put next to some unexpected person. As I believe we are all just one conversation away at any moment from meeting the most incredible person with their own unique set of stories. And flying has that strange luxury that you can ask wildly inappropriate and personal questions as there's this understanding that you are likely to never see that person again. So seat-mates can be particularly candid, particularly raw, particularly unedited.
And then you have the added bonus of arriving at that new destination. My favorite is places are those I've never been, and I have a bias toward less developed wilder country. Perhaps because it matches my sense of my own interior, the unkempt nature that lives inside my own head. And that new destination might be a reflection externally of what I feel inside myself, making me feel in the words of david shields (taken from someone else I think) "a little less freakish, a little less lonely..." something like that.

My thoughts of the Super Bowl (part II)
Here was my Super Bowl. My thoughts during game -- between me and me and then shared via email with Batkin.
I don't know why I am pulling for the Packers, but I am pulling for the Packers. i wonder if Batkin is watching. I wonder if he's yelling at the T.V. Are all those colored lines generated by the T.V. people. How do they do that. Seemed like that one guy held onto the ball long enough to not call it an incomplete, but maybe i only think that because I saw it in slo-mo, so it seems longer to me. Doesn't that one big guys' curly hair sticking out of his helmut ever get caught when he's tackling/being tackled. How is that not a hazard. How many coaches do they have for heaven's sake. i mean really I would like to know. How do they keep each team from intercepting the airwaves for the communications on those Motorola headsets.
Surely they've thought that one through. i wonder if Batkin is wearing a ball cap while he watches. Is he yelling at the t.v. now. Is it really true what they say about the big guys with the big guts still having really low body fat, seriously how can that be. I hope the music sounds better live than what we are hearing. These commercials aren't so great, except maybe the one about Coke and the two border guards that are supposed to be in some made up Kazakhastan. I wonder if Batkin is watching the game somewhere woody.*** Why did they let both teams wear yellow pants, with just differences in socks and stripes. Seems like they could have worked that out ahead of time. One simple phone call. Fergie's looking a little chubby in her Swarovski crystal football getup.
*** Note to reader: ('woody' refers to stupid joke involving the Olive Garden, bad food, and out of date interiors, and Batkin's limited vocabulary when describing interiors where he finds himself. When I asked him what some place looked like, he said, 'woody.' Pathetic. Enough said. But I promise you, Batkin does not have the taste of say a Dwell reader, or an Architectural Digest subscriber for that matter..)

Super Bowl Sunday and my highly evolved, insightful, (frankly idiotic) set of thoughts!
So here is a post of sorts:
I know very little about football, but appreciate it as something I would like to intelligently know about (which I do not). I have a fantasy that there's some football sports obsessed guy in life who feels a compulsive need to educate me. For now I have a heartful correspondence on the matter with a (male) friend named Batkin who is well aware how much of a dullard I am in this department. But truth be told, I would appreciate football as this new something to know something about, you know? For now, I know next to nothing. i watched this year with two of my friends in my hood here, with their little boy and some of their friends.
So allow me to present to you the full extent of my highly evolved, insightful, (frankly idiotic) set of thoughts between me and me that I shared via email with my sports-obsessed friend, Batkin. He is one of my favorite friends to correspond with, hands down, sports or no. On any topic really. He is the same guy who has single handedly renamed any man I have ever dated: Tricycle Boy, Dog-Humper, O.B.P. (On Bended Pee, long story...) Merger-Dropper (that one I came up with myself and he adopted). Ernesto, Brooklyn....One of his old girlfriend's (well, it was more interlude than girlfriend, lets call it) we call R.B. (Rabbit Boiler, our homage to Fatal Attraction). He also calls anytime I date Date-A-Pa-Looza...but that is also another correspondence as well. For now we'll stick with sports. But you get the picture.
More to come....
